TO All BOAT OWNERS
Dear All
Covid 19 – New Risk
Further to the government’s announcement of Tier 4 restrictions for our area we are still awaiting instruction from the British Marine Federation on the implication for the marina.
In the meantime and whilst we await guidance the rules for Tier 4 on the government website are:
Not to leave home unless you have a reasonable excuse, if you need to travel stay local – meaning avoid travelling outside your village or town.
You can leave your home and area for outdoor recreation and exercise. This should be done locally wherever possible but you can travel a short distance in Tier 4 to do so.If you feel it necessary to visit Swale Marina and for all live aboard residents, we now require everyone to wear a face covering whilst on the marina premises - this includes the pontoons, toilets and washrooms – and please do not approach any staff member.
It is not necessary to wear a face covering whilst on your boat, only in the marina.
We wish you all a safe and Happy Christmas
Yours sincerely
Simon and Tanya

Lockdown Update – 11th November 2020
Dear All,
Further to our last email regarding the second lockdown restrictions we are pleased to convey that the DCMS has now confirmed that recreational boating can be part of an outdoor exercise regime either alone, with one other person, or within your household bubble.
Boat fishing and angling is also permissible.
DEFRA has not changed its statement. They do not consider private individuals visiting their boats for maintenance or winterisation purposes as an essential activity for leaving their primary place of residence.
We are of course on hand to help should you need it.
All the best
Simon and Tanya

6/11/20 Email to all members from SWALE MARINE SERVICES
Dear All,
We are writing outlining the position at present regarding the Marina operation and the new Government restriction imposed on all of us from 5th November
to the 2nd December or beyond.
It is mandated that we are to stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives.
People are not permitted to leave home except for the following reasons:
Education
Work, if you cannot work from home
Exercise and recreation outdoors
Medical reasons
Shopping for food and essentials
Caring for others
Although the Marina is allowed to stay open we are required to discourage non-essential visits to the Marina and DEFRA have stated that boat maintenance
and winterisation are not essential activity so people should not leave their place of residence for such activity.
There has been no specific guidance on people visiting their boats except for the fact that it is not an essential activity to leave home for and DEFRA have not
as yet confirmed that recreational boating can be part of an outdoor activity regime.
We will be operational in the boatyard so works will all continue and if your boat is booked for a haul or launch this will go ahead. We will move your boat to
and from the travel hoist at no extra cost so as you are not required to be in attendance.
Boats sales and brokerage are only allowed to operate on a virtual basis so there cannot be any boat viewings in the marina during this period although if you have a current buyer requiring a survey, this can go ahead.
Please contact us should you wish us to check on your boat in your absence and we assure you that we will be looking after all the boats during this period.
We wish you all the best and hope you stay safe and well
Yours sincerely
Simon and Tanya
